Production

Conceived by Dave Polsky, the series presents the concepts of adolescence, including its focus on “individuality vs. conformity”.[3] He explains that Maggie must be able to pursue her goal without feeling detached from her friends and family, however, she often faces challenges to her life and usually takes action to continue with her goals and agendas.

Maggie Pesky was created and designed by a character designer, Dave Wasson, using Macromedia Flash to animate the series. According to Dave Wasson, during the interview with Animation Magazine, he was persuaded to use Flash since he had experiences with Flash animation for several commercials and commissioned short films for a museum in Singapore. Most of the crew and animators from Warner Bros.' ¡Mucha Lucha! worked on the series, when the series was cancelled and the production was shut down.

Despite positive reviews and reception, the series was announced to be cancelled after only one season. According to Sean Szeles, an animator on The Buzz on Maggie, he describes, "Apparently good animation, art direction, and characters don't mean anything to Disney. The Buzz on Maggie is no more."[4]

Broadcast

Before the series premiere, Disney Channel air the second segment of the second episode, "The Science Whatchamacallit" on June 10, 2005. The series officially premiered on Disney Channel on June 17, 2005, with two back-to-back episodes. Following the premiere, it was moved to the weekend and airing occasionally before the evening slots. The last episode aired on May 27, 2006, with the final two segments of the series, "Synchronized Flying" and "Roach Hotel".

In September 2005, it was acquired by ABC to air the series through the Saturday morning block, ABC Kids. It aired episodes during its rerun from September 17, 2005, and lasting until January 21, 2006.
